It is not accidental that according to mythology, Limnos the island of Dionysus was the first stop in the Argonauts' voyage to Colchis, nor was the fact that during the Trojan war, the Achaeans took good care in supplying themselves with the celebrated wine of Limnos Island. In addition, Dionysus "having fallen in Love with Ariadne, carried her off to Limnos where he lay with her and she then gave birth to Thoas, Staphylos and Oinopion."
Today, Limnos Wines is continuing the age old tradition of producing fine wines in the modern plants of the Co-operative Association of Limnos. They still utilize the unique and aromatic “Moschato of Alexandria” grape variety.
Finely cultivated rows of vineyards on the island cover 650 hectares of Limnos. The relatively Ιow yield of 700 kg per stremma almost guarantees excellence.
Moschato Alexandria is the most aromatic Aegean island variety from which both dry and sweet high quality appellation wines are produced.
