Domata Frescia - Organic Tomato Passata
This fantastic tomato sauce is produced from an organic heirloom summer tomato variety grown in the area of Karditsa, Northern Greece, since the early 1900’s. This local variety was chosen for its original old-fashioned tomato flavour and sweet taste. Our passata is made from uncooked tomatoes that have been passed through a fine sieve to remove most of the seeds and skins, bottled and gently pasteurised without being boiled. This allows us to seal-in-the-jar the fantastic flavour, aromas and vibrant colour of our heirloom summer tomatoes. Excellent as a base for any sauce and stew or even plain on pasta. Strictly no preservatives, additives or colourings.
Tomato with Basil
Following an old family recipe, organically grown basil, garlic and extra virgin olive oil are added to the basic sieved tomato sauce. The result is a light, fresh tasting tomato sauce, ideal for pasta, pizza or even as a dip.
Tomato with Olives and Capers
Organically grown whole capers, slices of the finest Kalamata olives and extra virgin olive oil are added to the basic sieved tomato sauce. The resulting sauce has a refined but distinct taste, ideal with pasta or even on toasted bread for a bruschetta style appetizer.
Tomato with Carrot and Celery
Following a family recipe, organically grown grated carrots, celery, onions, extra virgin olive oil and a dash of local honey are added to the basic sieved tomato sauce. The result is a rich and fresh tasting sauce with the distinct aroma of carrots and celery, ideal for a range of dishes, Excellent as a base for vegetable or meat stews.
Tomato with hot Peppers
Organically grown hot chilli peppers, a hint of garlic, extra virgin olive oil and a dash of local honey are added to the basic sieved tomato sauce, to make this fresh and vibrant sauce. The heat, that delicately tingles on the tongue, makes it ideal for a more adventurous pasta dish or even as a dip for crisps and snacks.
