Winemaker Alison Doran used 100% Pinot Noir grapes from the Russian River Valley. Sourced from a single vineyard (River South Ranch), this is a ripe, rich Pinot that is quite heavily extracted. Dark bramble fruits, black cherries, vanilla and baking spices are woven into a plump, round frame. The oak and alcohol components push the edge, but the wine remains enjoyable throughout the mid-palate and medium-length finish. "New World" in every sense, this is a version of the grape that will never be confused with the vision of Burgundian winemakers. That said, it will be preferred by many wine lovers who covet forward fruit.
